Our Mission
Coping Together is a non-for profit organization focused on helping individuals with developmental disabilities receive quality treatment for emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges.
Background
Coping Together was founded in 2013 with the purpose of educating parents and families about children’s mental health and how it affects their academic progress in school. Over time, the organization grew and began to provide mental health counseling for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Our Providers
SHELLEY SKAS MA LCPC:
Shelley Skas is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and also holds
a Type 73 certification in school counseling. Shelley’s areas of expertise are addressing emotional and behavioral problems. She
specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for children and adolescents. She also provides CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and
DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) for teens and adults. |
TAMARA DENTON ED. D., LCPC, CADC, CAMT: Dr. Tamara Denton is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor as well as a Certified Anger Management Specialist. She earned her Master's Degree in Family Sciences from Eastern Illinois University, and her Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University. In counseling she feels an important factor to success is building a safe environment and trusting relationship between the counselor and client. She believes every client deserves to be given quality and adequate services. Showing compassion for her students and clients is one of her attributes. Dr. Denton has extensive experience working with family systems that have been fragmented by addiction and mental illness. As a skilled Counselor, Educator and Coach, Dr. Denton provides individual, family, couples and marital counseling sessions in an empowering environment where clients can feel safe and secure as they work toward achieving their goals. |
Patrick O'Malley
M. A., BCBA: Patrick O’Malley is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. He received his Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology
with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology
from Illinois State University. Patrick has been working with adults and children with disabilities for the past 12 years. He specializes in developing
and implementing behavior management programs as well as conducting staff and parent training.
CHRISTINE
O’BRIEN MA LPC:
Christine O’Brien is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology. Christine’s experience includes
working with at-risk youth, family therapy, and working with individuals that have continuing mental illness. She specializes in CBT
(Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Solution Focused Therapy. |
SANGITA BOGATI MS LCPC: Sangita Bogati is a bilingual and bi cultural Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She graduated from St. Cloud State University, St. Cloud MN with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and Addiction counseling and has combined her education and her training from the west and her knowledge and background from the east to create a holistic approach. Sangita has over 5 years of experience working with a variety of mental health issues (major depression, PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar, autism, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse issues). She works with adolescents to enhance self-esteem, decision making, recover from addiction and setting goals. She has experience in anger management, crisis intervention, family counseling, behavior management, addiction counseling, grief and loss, stress management, mindfulness, psycho educational groups and group therapy. Her approach includes dialectic behavioral skills, cognitive behavior therapy, systems therapy, and structural therapy.
KASIA BUDYN MA, NBCC, LPC: Kasia Budyn is a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor. She received her Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling. Kasia’s experience includes working with individuals that have developmental and intellectual disabilities. She specializes in CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
