Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) designed to help individuals who exhibit self-destructive behaviors. Its main goal is to teach the patient skills to cope with stress, emotions, and aims to improve the patient's relationships with others. Using techniques such as CBT, validation, and dialectics therapists help the person find a balance between acceptance and change. By developing new skills, such as coping methods and mindfulness practices, the person has the power to improve unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.
